to compensate for the past lazy entries. here's one write up on paris through my eyes so far.

1)Parisiens are green. they protect the environment and it is completely normal if they do not provide you plastic bags in the supermarket. (so stop bugging NTUC, sinagporeans, we have loads to learn) If you want plastic bags, u pay. But that is so uncool cus the in thing is to bring your own bag or carry your stuff with your bare hands, like us. (erm i think ONLY WE DO THAT, imagine holding ham in one hand and a stalk of veg in another ...)

2) You can get around Paris using the metro. Metro is short for the metropolitan. It is made up of 16 lines that the parisiens claims to be clearly lined and labeled. but trust me, you will be lost in the metro station during your first time. It looks more like a choochoo train station to me initially cus it was dark and dirty. (the one at saint-lazarre was much better and we jokingly labeled it the city link and the way to NEL from douby ghaut)
There are many exits to the different platforms for the different lines, so it is important to have a map to know where to go to, to change trains and which exit to take (sortie, in french). The confusing part is that you have to know which direction of the line you should be taking because if you are at the wrong platform, you will need to go under then up again to go opposite.

You can also take a taxi, if you are feeling rich that day. One with white light on means that it is available for hail. Pick u charge is 2.10 eur and regardless of the dist the min you MUST PAY the driver is 5.6o eur. The fourth person in the taxi will be chargeable at 4euros and the 2nd luggage is at 1 eur each. (good luck with that!)

3) They are FREE and LIBERAL.
they can eat, bask, bring their dogs into the metro. that is one. i even seen dogs went shopping with their owners in la fayette before. yes, la fayette the 'paragon' in singaporean context. so crazy huh. AND they have vending machines on the train platforms. many rubbish bins as well. bombs? what bombs?!

They have graffiti everywhere you can imagine. REALLY EVERYWHERE.
They work v little hours, clocking only 35 hrs a week =)
They let their dogs poo everywhere but usually near the park (so you know when you be esp alert)

4) The french are very proud of their culture and language. Although they speak english, (most of them shld rightfully at least clock 8 years of eng studies), most of them do not use the language. some refuse to, some are just too weak in that language or too proud to care.

5) places you should go for sure are:
the effiel tower (DUH, dun hate me for saying this, but i see it everyday just outtaa my window yo lol) it is in the 7th district.

And if you are feeling even richer, go to champs-elysees and avenue montaine (pardon me for not using the french notations). it is the house of gucci, armani, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Chanel blabla and the top restaurants, theatre and museums.

Montmatre. The tourist area and where you can find the sacre coeur (with notations). It's like chinatown in singapore when they have alot of souvenirs selling. The food is also good and its near my school at avenue trudaine. Montmatre is also one of the historic hearts of paris located at the 18th district.

Palais Garnier- the paris national opera House. Built in the 1875, the place is decorated lavishly with bronze, gold and marble and is a temple to the arts of opera and dance. see the picture i took at opera last week. There, you can also find 'orchard road' in the same area. There's Zara, H&M, Mango and also the La fayette housing all the designer stuff. The more expensive area to shop at.

Louvre- The former palace of the kings of france. i have also been there, vincent brought us last week. Where the louvre museum displays 35,000 work of art. entry into the museum is thru the prymid as i have already done so. There are also shopping to be done inside. It's like city link mall beneath the prymid.

so far, these are the places that i have been to, and they are also the famous places that you ought to visit if you come to paris one day. btw, our consumer behavior teacher loved our idea for the project. pls tell us that we have just gained some goo amt of 'pride' for the singaporeans. He was praising us like the whole thing we told him was some work of einstein! =D

I spoke to mum today about my grades. And we talked about what's gg to happen if i dun get into a local uni with the course choice of my own. she didnt want me to fly cus she thinks that it is dangerous. And she says that my dad wouldnt want to send me abroad cus he will be damn worried for me and he has only one daughter. so. conclusion was that, SHE TOLD ME to come home first then decide. it really wouldnt go anywhere even if we go on. cus when i told her studies in the states, she said bomb, when i told her i can fly, she said planecrash.

lol. im praying i will get into the local uni so that i can NOT GO THRU THIS.
